How BharatApp Chat works

BharatApp Chat is a messenger built on one promise: your conversations belong to you, not to us.

🪪 No phone number, ever
You are your @username. No SIM, no phone number, no contact-list upload. Your sign-up Gmail is never shown to anyone. Share your handle only with people you choose — strangers have no way to find or spam you.
🔒 End-to-end encrypted
Encryption keys are created and stored only on your phone. Messages are sealed before they leave your device — our server mathematically cannot read them.
📮 Relay & delete
Our server is a postman, not a warehouse. It holds your sealed message only until your friend's phone collects it, then destroys its copy — and sends you a deletion receipt as proof (long-press any delivered message → Message info).
🔥 Burn-on-read
Toggle the flame before sending. The message can be viewed exactly once on the other side, then destroys itself on both phones.
🎭 Personas
One phone, up to five separate identities — family, business, strangers. Different @usernames, separate chats, impossible to link together.
💾 Backups only you control
Nothing is stored in any cloud. Save an encrypted backup file, keep it anywhere, and restore it on a new phone with your passphrase. Without the passphrase, the file is unreadable — even to us.
🛡 Impersonation protection
Every account has a permanent identity key. If a @username ever points to a different person — for example after the 90-day expiry — BharatApp Chat shows a loud security warning and marks the chat "ID CHANGED". Nobody can silently pretend to be your friend.
⏳ Username policy
Your @username is locked to you while you're active. If an account is unused for 90 days, the handle is released so someone else can register it. Your chats and KAL-ID are never touched — just open BharatApp Chat once in a while to keep your name.
